Starting Up:
Trainers are most accurately described as the "backbone" of any major region. New trainers are often rather young, (early-to-mid teens), and the turnover rate for the class is a rather high one. It doesn't take that long for people to determine if the trainer's route is for them. It's grueling hard work punctuated with long periods of travel through dangerous wildernesses. Many find that it's just not for them.
However, for those who do persevere, and those who work hard with all they've got and really try to make a difference, the rewards are region-wide recognition as a hero, fanclubs, and respect. Please take note that this is very different than the love that Coordinators get - coords are your idols, your movie stars; trainers are your beloved sportsmen.
Many attempt to become a trainer and have it all, but very, very few actually get anywhere with it - there can only be eight leaders, four elites, and one champion, after all.
Do you think you've got what it takes?
The Basics:
Trainers are competitors of Pokemon battling - that's all they do. Fight fight fight. There's really nothing more glamorous to it.[/blockquote]
However, a good trainer devises tactics, and develops bonds with his/her Pokemon that can turn the tide in most any battle. The best trainers are the ones who stick with a core set of Pokemon, while catching nearly everything else (they have been known to be nasty collectors).
A trainer's bond with their Pokemon is unrivaled by any other classes'. Coords might get close at times, but there is nothing stronger than the bond between two partners in war.
To prove their worth, trainers compete in 3 vs. 3 Gym matches with Gym Leaders. Upon victory (it takes a classic "best two out of three" stance), they are presented with a badge that marks their victory. They must go in order.
The ultimate goal for any trainer is to ride up from the ranks, defeat all eight Gym Leaders, challenge and win against the Elite Four, and become the Champion of their region. It's quite the tournament, and there can only be one winner.
Incredibly adept (often older) trainers are often offered Gym Leader and Elite Four positions. However, with the recent addition of the apprentice clause (as decided by the Gym Leader League of Kanto just two years ago), Leaders have the right to choose their own heirs, making high position trainer spots harder than ever to fit in to.
The little things:
When not building their team or competing in Gyms, trainers are best suited for tournaments, competitions, and battling facilities. The most famous and best of which is the Battle Tower, however more facilities will be opened in the future.[/blockquote]
Furthermore, trainers usually are the most apt to take on missions and get those sorts of rewards.
All in all the trainer class is a solid, basic class with very little curveballs. Perfect for the ambitious type. ♥
Happy battling!
